Eastport Elementary MAY BE REDISTRICTED. See if you're affected.
As of Sept. 17th, the current school board proposals change Eastport Elementary's catchment.
These proposals are not finalized yet. See below for contact information.
The Anne Arundel County School Board Public Hearing on Redistricting, originally scheduled for October 13, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., has been postponed until further notice.
Once a new date is announced, AACPS will open a sign-up link for parents and community members who wish to speak at the public hearing. We encourage as many Eastport Elementary parents as possible to participate.
There will be two hearings, and each person may only speak at one.
You must sign up in advance to speak.
Speakers are limited to two minutes and may not exceed their allotted time.
If you’re interested in carpooling, please email the PTA at president@eespta.org.
We encourage everyone to wear your Eastport T-shirt to show your school spirit and unity!
More updates will be shared on our website as they become available.
The Board of Education will meet on October 15th. An agenda will be be posted on Friday, but they have made it clear that because the Board will be holding hearings specific to any redistricting plans to be developed in the coming months, it will not accept comment on redistricting at regularly scheduled Board meetings.
We encourage families to stay engaged. The meeting will be broadcast on the AACPS YouTube Channel. More information can be found on the Board's announcement.
The map above is our best effort in order to inform Eastport families of changes that may affect them. The description from the board's page says:
Move the neighborhoods south of Carrollton Road out of the Georgetown East Elementary School catchment into the Hillsmere Elementary School catchment area; move the area bounded by Jackson Street out of the Eastport Elementary School catchment area into the Georgetown East Elementary catchment area.
From the official slide deck.
Public hearings. Speakers may only testify at one hearing.
The Board is scheduled to adopt a redistricting plan that will go into effect in August 2026.
As the public comment period has closed, any comments or questions should be directed toward District 6 board member Dr. Joanna Tobin.
